It's game day! The Sens are in Winnipeg to take on the Jets this afternoon. Ottawa is coming into this game on a woeful two-game losing streak against the bottom-dwelling Alberta teams. The first loss came at the hands of Ales Hemsky and the Oilers, which was followed by Calgary beating Ales Hemsky and the Senators 4-1. Let's hope Manitoba is friendlier to the Senators.
With both teams pushing for playoff spots, and the game on national television, I'd expect nothing short of fireworks from this one (but those dollar store fireworks which refuse to go off until someone loses a hand).
Here are the story lines for today's match up:
- Hemsky had to drive 3 hours from Edmonton to Calgary in order to make it on time for his first game with the Sens. After the game was finished, Hemsky drove back home to pack up his stuff, while the rest of the team took a plane to Winnipeg. Yesterday, Hemsky yet again found an alternative way to travel, in order to make it to Winnipeg on time:
- Another afternoon game spells another bleak outlook for the Sens. At least the guys that log the heavy minutes are always in for a little afternoon lovin';
- After being a healthy scratch for the last 3 games, Jared Cowen draws back into the lineup today. Him and Chris Neil had a confrontation at practice yesterday, but luckily Robin Lehner was there to break them apart.
- Making the playoffs seems a little to far out of reach for the Sens at this point. According to Sports Club Stats, the Sens have only a 8.6% chance of the making it to the post season. Although this number is really low, Captain Jason Spezza still has hope:
